2K9 OAG SPRING MEETING WRAPS UP AT
LAKE BLACKSHEAR
(LAKE BLACKSHEAR, Cordele Ga, 19
APR. 2K9)
The OAG Family gathered at
Lake Blackshear this weekend for our annual spring
meeting. If you weren't able to attend, the first thing
to make clear is that the facility - on the grounds of
the Georgia Veterans Memorial Park - is worth the price
of admission alone. Attendees had the choice of
accommodation at either the villas which were housing
units of 8 nicely furnished units each, or private
cottages for the financially gifted! The conference
center where the classes were held featured a spacious
outer area and was near the in-house restaurant. Almost
to a person everyone thought the luncheon was excellent.
Generally luncheons tend to be boringly routine in the
culinary sense of the word. In this regard Lake
Blackshear deserves much "props". (This is a urban word
which means respect) :-) On Saturday evening after the
day's classes were done OAG 1st VP Cora Lester and OAG
Sec'y Jeannie Ethridge coordinated a surprisingly cost
effective (per person) boat cruise of the lake under the
very capable seamanship skills of Mr. Les Broadway, a
guest of Ms. Lester. The cruise group which included 2K7
Optician of the Year Wayne Helms, acting in the capacity
of a bon vivant maitre 'd, kept everyone's spirits on
the light side. Wayne Helms, who knew! Back on land the
" OAG SEAL task force" dined at the marina restaurant
facility and for most, called it a night. If a little
fishing is your thing Lake Blackshear can handle that
too.
During the luncheon on
Saturday, the annual awards were given, and the
following members were recognized with the
C. Richard Sanders, Sr.,
Service Awards:
