OAG PUBLIC SERVICE ADVISORY NOTICE
REPORTING
UNLICENSED OPTICIANRY PRACTICE
In response to inquiries received regarding the unlicensed practice of opticianry in Georgia, the OAG (Opticians Assoc. of Georgia) wishes to make it crystal clear the organization does not condone or support such activity in any way. It is the personal and professional obligation of all licensed practitioners and/or anyone else to promptly report any such known activity to the GSBDO (Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians). The state board will confidentially process any complaint received that is properly filed in accordance with state guidelines. The proper procedure for filing a complaint is to submit a letter dated and signed with direct contact information to include a daytime telephone number. All complaints should be submitted by means of a traceable format i.e., retain proof of submission. The board (justifiably) does not accept anonymous complaints. The complaint narrative must cite to the best ability the nature of the offense being report i.e., unlicensed practice as it relates to a business, it’s location, personnel if known, and times. Generally, the board does not address consumer complaints - for example - as it relates to customer dissatisfaction with a purchase.
