The 2K11 OAG annual Fall meeting was held at the Sea Palms Resort, St. Simons Island GA this year 5-6 November. The OAG Fall Golf tournament was held on Friday 4 November in which 3 four person teams participated. Attendance of  56 people exceeded expectations, which is always a problem worth having. It does suggest, however, out of practical necessity an increasing emphasis on pre-registration. As a result, the OAG board of directors will enact policies to encourage pre-registration particularly since the OAG now has online registration capability, as set up by OAG Webmaster/Director Frank Clark. The continuing education speakers for the weekend, current OAV (Opticians Assoc. VA) President Jackie O’Keefe, and OAG’s own director Carol Joan Brown provided excellent and interactive classes that from collected surveys were well received by the attendees. OAG President Emeritus Thomas Blair, Jr., presented the increasingly popular GA Law class that unexpectedly had a current (GA) state board member present,  Mrs. Lurue Lord. All total 11 eleven hours of ABO/NCLE accredited continuing education was presented. On Saturday evening various attendees went downtown to the Neptune Beach area where there were an excellent selection of reasonably priced restaurants. Of equal importance is recognition for the outstanding job done i.e., keeping the meeting on track by the meeting volunteer staff of: current OAG President Cora Lester, the OAG 2K11 Opticians of the Year the dynamic duo of (treasurer) Kat and (director) Frank Clark, OAG Secretary Jeannie Ethridge, OAG Continuing Education Chairman W. G. Wilkerson, OAG Director Deacon Bobby Daniels, OAG 1st Lady Emeritus Sharon Blair and Thomas Blair, Jr., Convention Chairman. A photo pictorial is available on our OAG website at www.oagonline.org . Based on the positive experience and outstanding facility support of the Sea Palms Resort staff  it is very likely the 2K13 fall meeting will be held at this facility..as long as their pencil(s) remain sharp! J The 2K12 OAG annual fall meeting will be held again in Savannah at a date and location to be announced. As revealed by membership feedback Savannah remains a very desirable location for the fall meeting and will not be abandoned. The OAG is committed to at least 3 meetings per year i.e., the winter meeting, the spring meeting, and the fall meeting each one strategically positioned around the state.

All interested parties are to monitor the OAG website at www.oagonline.org for all future meeting updates and/or changes as may occur.

The next continuing education meeting is the 2K12 OAG Winter meeting at Wiregrass Technical College in Valdosta GA, the weekend of 18 19 February 2K12. The scheduled speaker is Dr. Warren G. McDonald. The Georgia Law class will also be presented at this meeting.
